The thing that Jared and I have been dying to do this summer (more like Jared- then I remember that I'm huge) is go camping in northern California or anywhere for that matter. Well, we still have not been able to check that off the list, it's going to wait until after the baby is born. However, we have gotten some camping experience in the past few days. Its been pretty hot here lately(I know it's nothing compared to AZ heat) and with no air conditioning besides a swamp cooler and windows, the afternoons and nights have been pretty miserable. So Sunday night it was a unanimous vote to rearrange the furniture and put our air mattress in our living room, directly in front of the swamp cooler. Fortunately for us, the cooler works and the nights have actually been bearable despite the fact that the rest of the apartment is 90+ degrees.
I have decided that even if we had a free opportunity to going camping, there would be no way I'd be able to go. Sleeping pregnant is less than comfortable- let alone on a air mattress, and getting off and on the mattress is a special treat I like to only do once each night if I can help it (though my bladder has a different idea). However, at least we have a swamp cooler to keep us cool during the long nights. We recently learned that our friends at a nearby apartment do not have any sort of cooler besides the windows so I truly extend my deepest sympathy to them. In the mean time, I would say that this counts for our camping trip this year.
