to sum it all up

Here is some news about fun things going on....

The baby shower went very well, and everything was excellently planned and very nice. The food, atmosphere, people, and decorations were all fantastic and SOOOO appreciated! Thank you Amy, Jen, and Holly for planning everything, and thank you to everyone who came or sent us something- we can't even begin to explain how thankful we are.

P.S. the picture is of a baby diaper cake Amy made as a decoration/extremely useful gift that is so cute...it's in from of our beloved swamp cooler, which has been a life saver the past few days.

My last day of work was Friday and the ladies at work surprised me by throwing me a little shower after the work day. Once again, thanks for the hard work that was put into doing that, and for the support we have gotten there! I am sad to leave the friends I have made there, and will miss the children and fulfillment from working and helping provide for our family- however (this may sound bad) but I am really ready to start raising our own kids. For years I have worked in childcare, so it will be nice to finally have the opportunity to raise children of our own. Jared and I are getting more and more anxious to become parents, and experience the joys that come from being parents (though its also very nerve-racking).

Last night Jared and I went out to eat at this Mexican food place Jared discovered from guys at work which was really good. After eating, we were walking around and there was this flock of 5-7 birds that were making the weirdest noise. Neither of us recognized what kind of birds they were and the way they were flying was pretty bizarre. Fortunately, they landed in a tree somewhat close to us, so as we got closer- and after searching for awhile because they blended in to the tree really well- we figured out that they were a flock of green parrots! How random is that?! It was the funniest thing ever...I would never have expected to see parrots in the the middle of Old Town Orange County...let alone in California! It was pretty hilarious to say the least.

Afterwards, Jared suggested we go explore Downtown Disney since we'd never really done that before and we live so close, that it was totally worth touring on a Friday night. Parking ended up being free(a definite plus) and it was a lot of fun. They had a big Lego store, with lots of neat Lego sculptures on display and a ton of little tables with Legos for kids (and Jared) to construct with. They also had a huge Disney, Build a bear, and Anne Gebbles store with live bands playing everywhere. Every time we got close to a band playing, the baby would squirm around- either she's dancing, or didn't appreciate being woken up. Speaking of which, I captured a video(finally) of her moving around a little bit. It's hard to tell with the camera, but she moves a lot now and its really interesting to watch.

Sounds like you had a great baby shower! I'm sure it was lots of fun. Wish I could have been there! You are getting so close to your due date now. CRAZY!!! It's fun when you get to feel the baby kick and squirm so much. They get so strong the last couple of months. It's amazing how they fit in our belly! HA! Your little girl is going to be here before we know it! You're going to LOVE Mommyhood! Can't wait for her arrival!!! You'll have to post pictures of her room! :)

Awwww... I miss feeling baby movements! I think that's the ONLY thing I miss from being pregnant. Isn't it SO crazy when they move so much at the end? Good luck with all those braxton hicks... that's no fun at all. Let me know if you need anything. :)

You should check out the documentary "The Parrots of Telegraph Hill." It's all about the wild parrots in California.
