Playing Catch Up

Somehow the addition of one more person in the family has left me feeling like I'm always playing catch up. I was telling Jared the other day, how I never felt laundry was too daunting of a task before. All the griping among wives and mothers about the endless loads of laundry to sort, clean, and fold- I didn't get it- laundry wasn't that big of a deal for me. Until. we. had. three. kids. NOW I get what all the fuss was about. It's all I can do to get the 3+ loads done and put away before Monday rolls around and it's time to start the whole process over again. Same with most other aspects of my life right now. Bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and definitely blogging. I constantly feel as though I'm one step behind everything. I'm not complaining that my life is too hard- I'm just noticing how much chores have gotten neglected or put off these past two months. I hope it's not like this forever. But as of right now, this is my life! This week the kids and I were at the library when my brother Jesse called saying he wanted to come over for a little bit. Fine by me- I love having visitors! So I said give me 10 minutes and we'll head out. Well 30+ minutes go by when I remember that he is still at my house! So I rush the kids home, throw us all in the house to apologize profusely that he was left waiting forever, and then take a good look around the house. It's spotless. That sweet brother of mine cleaned up the house, vacuumed, took out trash and overflowing recycle bin that I had every intention of doing that day (but I'll be honest- probably wouldn't have). I could have cried- it was probably one of the kindest deeds & surprises someone has done for me in a long time (excluding Jared- he does great things for me all of the time). And so, I still have a billion and one things I have fallen behind on....but for this week, I can put a check mark next to vacuuming, recycles, trash, and blogging.

Miss Priss has gotten quite sassy as of late. I have to admit, age 4 has so far been a challenge full of ups and downs. When she doesn't like what I ask her to do (which is a lot nowadays) she retorts with things like, "well because you made a bad choice, you can't be my friend anymore!" or "mom, you are on the naughty list and Santa wont bring you any toys!!" followed with a ginormous tantrum that should only be thrown when you are a two year old. OR she promptly goes to the paper drawer and writes either Jared or I, some hate mail. We prefer the latter since its a little bit funny. Most times the paper has a bunch of alphabet letters that say, "mom/dad you are not allowed in my room anymore" or something similar. After she went off to write one to Jared the other day, he said to me, "If this is how she handles her anger the rest of her life- I would be 100% okay with that!". I very much agree!! When she isn't being sassy, she is as sweet as honey and very eager to help and be obedient. She loves talking to Trevin in a sweet voice and calls him, "onsie" since she thinks the word is funny and even funnier that he wears them. Most nights she puts on a "show" for us full of dancing and singing, which is always a delight. Recently she got to go do a "trial dance class" and she was so excited and did a wonderful job of listening and following the teacher's directions. She looked like she'd been in that class the whole semester just like the other girls! I really want to enroll her in dance, and hope to, once I can find a place that is cheap enough. Addie is still coloring daily and has a new passion for drawing. She surprises me with the things she does since they are recognizable and really good in my opinion- Jared passed down his creative genes for sure!!
She is in the middle of performing "The Nutcracker" for us :)

Talks and talks all the time! He is still obsessed with Trevin and follows everything Addie does- but adds his own style to it. He really has a thing for sticks right now (boy thing??) and will go outside an find a stick to hang on to and show me. Never fails- he always finds one that he is so proud of! Dallin has been showing signs of being ready to be potty trained for a long time- but I somewhat ignored them considering most parents of boys have told me to eradicate all thoughts of it until he turns 3. So I had every intention of waiting until then. However, he just kept showing me sign after sign, that he was up for it. So I waiting until Thanksgiving week and gave it a shot, somewhat expecting an epic fail. Boy, was I surprised!! This kid did fantastic!!! On the first day he was telling me when he needed to go and had only 3 accidents- one of which was my fault(I was a little too impatient to get out of the bathroom and didn't trust that he actually had to go). The second day- only one accident and I didn't even have to set the timer anymore! Dallin was a pro! SO much easier than doing it with his sister! I have been so proud of him!! Dallin has also been really into creating things with Legos lately. It's fun to see what he creates and he is always so excited to show me what he built. I love it! He is also very affectionate and frequently gives me big bear hugs accompanied with his sweet voice of, "I wuv you mommy". I eat it up!

Little rascal got into the candy bucket and was helping himself!

Is still a big boy who just keeps growing like a weed! He is in 3-6 month clothes and I will have to be moving him up to the next size soon because they are getting a little too snug! He is in size 2 diapers, weighs 13lbs, grew 2 1/2 inches since his last visit, and is in the 69th percentile or higher for his weight, height and head. And he's only 2 1/2 months old!!!! Little chunker is very smiley these days but is also very serious about studying the world. He loves to watch his siblings and smiles at them when they interact with him. He is also pretty chatty and coos and makes noises whenever someone talks to him- I love to hear it! He loves Jared to death and they have a cute relationship that is fun to watch already. The other day I was trying to put him to bed and he was being unusually fussy about it and wouldn't calm down. Jared insisted on taking him and then proceeded to play with him- which I'll admit was a surprise for me because I knew he was tired and thought he'd be too grouchy to play. No. He totally played and smiled at Jared for a good chunk of time until he was clearly ready for bed. I swaddled him and he went to sleep like a champ. Seriously??!! Apparently mothers don't always know what's best lol ;). There is also no other person who can get Trevin to smile or chuckle more than Jared...I'm telling you- he loves his daddy!!! I have to admit I am somewhat jealous, but happy they have such a cute bond. :)

Has done another great job of putting up the Christmas lights and tree this year. He loves taking the kids for drives around the neighborhoods to look at Christmas lights. He recently had his end of the year performance review and his boss had all good things to say- way to go, Babe! He's kept the winter grass looking stellar and everyone enjoys playing on it- I'm glad he does it! For all of you people unaware: Arizona has winter and summer grass, not everyone bothers with the big hassle it is to rotate between the two, but Jared does and it's much appreciated :). Jared also gave Trevin his baby blessing the first week in December and it was beautiful. It was comforting to hear the wonderful things our son will be blessed with.
